As a teenager I was an active sportsperson and I suffered from continuous niggling injuries. After seeing multiple healthcare providers I found the most effective and fastest relief with Chiropractic. After a treatment I felt taller, lighter and had heaps more energy. The more I researched it, the more interested I got in the neurological aspect of chiropractic care.
The purpose of this blog is to educate current and prospective patients as well as anyone out there about the benefits of Chiropractic care. Knowledge is power and people should not be struggling every day with pain. Chiropractic as in nearly all other professions has evolved over the past 100 years. What you know or what you think you know might be very different to what actually happens in Chiropractic clinics today.
As Chiropractors, I believe we are musculoskeletal and biomechanics experts. We get extensive training in orthopaedics, neurology, pathology and radiology, as well as training in manipulation, mobilisation, soft tissue work, taping and rehabilitation. We believe in the body's natural ability to heal itself and a drug free style of treatment, knowing however that modern medicine and drugs definitely have their place in society. We believe in treating the underlying cause of your symptoms, not just the current problem. We also believe in maintenance care, which is looking after yourself before you decide the pain is too much and you need to do something about it.
I completed my Masters of Chiropractic degree at Macquarie University in 2014, a degree which requires five years of clinically demanding study and research, I have been using and refining these skills in practice to help my clients.
I enjoy a multitude of sporting pursuits and am currently playing and/or coaching cricket, golf and basketball. I have also represented NSW in netball and played soccer in the Newcastle NPL. It is this passion for sport and desire for high level performance that motivated me to complete my SMA Level 1 Sports Trainer Course plus advanced training in Rock Taping (also known as Kinesio Tape). My dream is to work alongside professional athletes and sports teams. To achieve this I am currently studying a FICS (Federation of International Chiropractic Sports) Degree which once completed is the first stepping stone to being able to treat athletes at an Olympic event.
As Chiropractors we treat a long list of problems including: low back pain, neck pain, headaches, shoulder and rotator cuff problems and knee and hip dysfunction. Throughout these blogs I hope to inform you about such problems and others, as well as showing you not only how Chiropractic can help your body to heal itself but what you can do to live a happier, healthier, pain free life.
